I’ve played Heavy Rain and all I’ve got to say about it is that it’s amazing. Sure some people might just think that it’s a movie with quicktime events but its more than just that.
When this game comes out on February 23rd it’s going to blow you away, not only in its visuals but in the way that the story is told. Heavy Rain is very much like Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy to us in the States) Quantic Dreams previous game before Heavy Rain.
Sleazy Place
But enough of this set up lets get down to what is in the actual demo. It starts off with you walking as Detective Scott Shelby walking down an ally to get to an apartment so he can ask the parent of the latest victim of the Origami killer. Here the game literally teaches you how to walk, it’s not like other games where you just use the left analog stick to walk you have to pull R2 to walk straight. Once you get to the end of the ally way Scott is struck with an asthma attack so you have to follow the onscreen commands to help rid him of the attack. Once you get inside of the apartment building you can either ask for Lauren Winter or you can continue up the stairs going door from door looking for her room. (This part of the demo really shows how you are going have conversations within the game also how action is going to take place.) Once you get there you talk to her about her son’s disappearance as well as if there are any leads. But the action starts when once you leave her room. As your walking out Scott is hit with another asthma attack but as your dealing with this you see a man walk over to Lauren Winter’s room. When he enters he starts yelling and beating on her. This is when you have your first fight as Scott burst through the door. The fighting is very fluid, all you have to do is follow the onscreen commands, but if you fail to do that the Scott will get beat down pretty badly. That pretty much ends that part of the demo.
Crime Scene
The second part of the demo shows more of the solving Crime scene side of Heavy Rain. Here you play as the FBI agent Norman Jayden. As
Wrap-up
Overall I am pumped for Heavy Rain; I have been pumped ever since the technology trailer way back when. This game is going to be huge to the people who play it but I feel it’s not going to make the big type of hit a game like Mass Effect 2 has. I’m salivating for the chance to play this full game so when February 23rd hits I know what I am going to be doing.
